Brilliant!

This book is not only about guidelines for finding a new job, but it is also a brilliant pathway to discover different sides of your own self. I highly recommend this book to those who feel lost and are looking for a better life for themselves but don't know what should be their first step. This wonderful book helped me to overcome a state of melancholy and gave me the incentive to try again and keep moving forward. It is inspiring and shows the actual possibility of living a life happy!!! It is one of the best books I've read so far.

Great Guidance

I am taking a "radical sabbatical". I just didn't know it until I read this book. If you are looking to make a career change, but are unsure what you want to do this book is perfect. It doesn't provide lists of careers based on personality types or tests, it provides guidance on how to do the job research based on your interests. It helps you come to terms with possible salary changes and education requirements. I'm thoroughly enjoying the process and wish I'd found the books years ago or at the very least 4 months ago when I first lost my job.

Worth a read. No revelations or prescriptions, but a good set of questions to think on...

It's a lot of "obvious" advice, sure. But much like proverbs, quotations and other types of positive reaffirmation, one can never get enough of them. I think it gets the job done for its target audience. If you're looking for a push or a nudge into the wilderness that is "following your dream, not just your career goal", this book is a worthy addition to your psychological launchpad. The examples and stories are only mildly motivating but true value of the book lies in the set of questions the author asks you answer for yourself. If you take them seriously, they may go a long way toward identifying exactly what fulfilling work would look like to you. It worked for me, somewhat. It motivated me set aside time everyday to think hard about what I would call fulfilling work. The questions provide a decent framework. The process is meditative and introspective and requires a lot of emotional stamina. It may take a while. I don't expect overnight epiphanies and, I suspect, neither should most people.

I gave it 4 stars and not 5 because I don't think the book will resonate with everyone. For example, if you're married with kids and a mortgage and other responsibilities, some of the advice will seem impractical.

A nice break from the holiday hustle and bustle

It's Christmas eve and Lizzie has been engaged for a whole hour when her private investigator fianc� tells her he has a new case he needs to go and work on. They are suppose to spend the next day Christmas with his family and her guy promises he will wrap up this case by the time they are suppose to be there. But will he? This is about 70 pages so its a quick read. It's cut e, witty, and fast read. A nice break from the holiday hustle and bustle.

A nice Christmas crime read. A n engagement. Announcement to the family and a robbery to solve. A Busy Christmas eve for sure. Jack and Lizzie go to hopefully solve this crime in time to announce their engagement at the Christmas dinner. A actress has her grandmothers pearls stolen from her safe. Will they solve it and who did it? No spoilers here. Grab a copy and some tea and enjoy.

This book has a Great Twist and Good Bones

Jack Mathis, former celebrity crimes investigation agent, has decided to hang his shingle out as an independent contractor. And due to his former line of work, he knows a lot of big wigs in the Hollywood crown. So, it could come as no surprise when Actress Arabella Saunders wants Jack to find her priceless necklace, an irreplaceable family heirloom. Main character Lizzie Carter, of course, is starstruck and wants to be a part of the investigation.

I thought this novella had some good bones and a great twist but I think it could have used a bit of bulking up. Things were resolved a bit too quickly for my taste. But all in all Zanna Mackenzie gave us a choice piece to add to our digital library. Definitely check this one out if you are looking for a quick read.

The Haslam System consists of three major components needed to complete any of the beautiful vintage patterns: (1) Books of Draftings, (2) Foundation Drafting Book and (3) Haslam Chart. The 1920s and 1930s Books of Draftings already contain the foundation draftings necessary to make the garments and only require the Haslam Chart to complete (the separate Foundation Drafting Book is not necessary). Therefore, you only need (1) and (3) of the Haslam System components to make any of the garments in this book. **IMPORTANT:** If you have a Haslam Chart (similar to a dressmaking/tailor's square), you only need this book to create the patterns for the fashions shown. If you do not have a Haslam Chart, Bramcost Publications has published the Chart in a book titled "Haslam System of Dresscutting -- Vintage Pattern Making for 1920s, 30s, 40s and 50s Fashions (Haslam Chart and Foundation Draftings)" that contains the other Haslam components needed to create the fashions. Using 14 body measurements, you first create your foundation pattern using the instructions at the beginning of the book and the Haslam Chart. The foundation pattern is your "base" pattern and is used to create the rest of your custom-fitted patterns for any of the garments using the instructions and diagrams in the book. There are more than 80 Books of Draftings in the Haslam System, with each book containing different draftings and fashion styles for pattern making. Sample fashions and illustration images are shown at the top of this page.

Location Lighting for Television is the first book of its kind to introduce the problems of location lighting for single camera operators and provides an insight into the technology and techniques required to solve these problems. Alan Bermingham operates as International Television Training and Consultancy (ITTC), specializing in television lighting. He was formerly a Senior Lecturer in Television Technical Operations at the BBC's engineering training Centre, Wood Norton, specializing in television lighting. He worked at TV-am as a Lighting Director and moved to Television South West, becoming Head of Lighting. Alan formed ITTC in 1992 and has given lighting training in over twenty countries. He is a co-author of Multiskilling for television Production and The Video Studio, also published by Focal Press.

Excellent reading for everyone interested in doing things right

It was enough for me to read parts of the book to be sure to buy it.

I am not very new to television and filmmaking and am quite a technical person. However, this book gave me a refreshment and added small but important details to my knowledge.

If you are worried about that the book is written in 2003, I can tell that information is by far not too old. This book has essentials that do not change and covers quite a wide range of gear.
